Page 22 - January 1909 - October 5, 1909Oct 6, 1912 - "Della" came to the bar this AM. Too rough to come in.
Oct. 7, 1912 - "Della" is still outside. Too rough.Oct. 12, 1912 - Was home today & worked on house. In evening a heavy run of chinooks came with some silversides. The bar was a moving mass of seemingly thousands of fish.
Oct. 13, 1912 - Heavy run of fish still on. "Della" came in today.
Oct. 14, 1912 - Miss Dorothy Newell is teacher. Cannery is blocked wtih fish. Got about 45 tons in one day, mostly chinooks.
Oct. 21, 1912 - Cannery is blocked again..
Oct. 23, 1912 - Herbert & Louise came home from their eastern trip. Gathered at Porter's with friends & neighbors. All had a good time. Refreshments served by bride & groom.
Oct. 24, 1912 - Fisherman still fishing on the 75 per boat limit.
Oct. 26, 1912 - Mr. Green still painting & varnishing.Oct. 31, 1912 - Most of the fishermen quit as the cannery cut the price of fish to 1 1/2 cents per pound for all good red salmon.
Nov. 1, 1912 - Herbert, Frankie & I picked last of apples.
Nov. 2, 1912 - I put some lifts, sash locks & curtains on our windows yesterday & today.
Nov. 7, 1912 - Went to beach with Mr. Beckwith & John Fox to lep them find coarse sand for flues.
Nov. 10, 1912 - Bert Ray & I got the balance of our fish money. We made $740.78 this season from Aug. 21 to Oct. 30.
Nov. 12, 1912 - Some of Porter's relatives & Mr. Lance arrived from the East.Nov. 15, 1912 - Willie and I fished some today, but caught nothing. The bay is full of snags now.
Nov. 16, 1912 - I went to Dennis' Sawmill at Neskowin after some strips of finishing lumber for upstairs in our house. I drove Jim & the buggy.
Nov. 20, 1912 - Will Christensen, Ole & I each hauled 1 load of lumber from Weiss' Mill for the Oretown Co-Operative Cheese Factory.
Nov. 21, 1912 - Foundation started by Ole & others.
Nov. 22, 1912 - I took Jim & buggy & returned Steinmasal's carpenter tools. The church foundation is nearly completed.
Nov. 26, 1912 -Lester Atterbury & Arilla Gillock were married at our house at noon today by Rev. Roosa. Present were Mr. & Mrs. Porter, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Porter, Ole Redberg & family, Mr. & Mrs Lane, Mabel, Willie, Sharles Johnson, Mr. Green & wife & ?.
Dec. 1, 1912 - Mr. Green came today to board here while painting & varnishing the Grange Hall.
Dec 2, 1912 - Lester Atterbury & Orilla Gillock were married at our house at noon today by Rev. Roosa. Present were Mr. & Mrs. Porter, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Porter, Ole Redberg & Family, Mr. & Mrs. Lane & Mabel, Willie, Charles Johnson, Mr. Green & wife & I.
Dec. 4, 1912 - Mrs. Green & Little daughter came to stay a few days.
Dec. 5, 1912 - I worked 4 1/2 hrs. on New Factory.Dec. 7, 1912 - I went up to Carvers after his heavy wagon and some things I bought. Carvers left this morning for Canby, Ore.
Dec. 10, 1912 - Hauled household goods over to the bay for Mr. & Mrs. Lester Atterbury. Ira Lance also hauled one load.
Dec. 11, 1912 - Crew of men tearing down old factory
Dec. 12, 1912 - Finished factory removal today. Herbert and Earl & 2 teams got 80 posts from beach.
Dec. 25, 1912 - At our house for Christmas dinner and tree were: Willie, Mr. & Mrs. Porter, Mr. & Mrs. Wm Redberg, Earl, Muriel Richardson, Ole & family, Bert Ray, Mr. & Mrs. Lester Atterbury and daughter Ora, Mrs. Lance & daughters Mabel & Weltha, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Porter, myself and family.
Dec. 30, 1912 -Neskowin's new cheese factory blew off its foundations. Estimated damage at least $250.00/
Dec. 31, 1912 - I did some carpenter work on upstairs in our house.
